We are under the "laws of nature and nature's God" and the rights we hold are "endowed by [our] creator." When was the last time we stopped to think on that one? Our national motto is "In God We Trust," and our pledge declares us to be "one nation under God." What has happened to this country? We still give lip service to these things, but we sure aren't acting like we trust God or that we are under God. Instead we allow millions of babies to be murdered every year, we have become so "tolerant" of alternative lifestyles that there is no Bibilical standard. Our churches are even accepting and allowing atrocities, because, apparently, God has changed his mind on what He considers to be right and wrong...it goes on and on. Our government leaders are a joke. Not only do they not hold to any visible faith, but they have allowed those with no faith to remove God from this country. How do you think our founding fathers would feel to know that the people here who are holding on to God's moral law are now being persecuted and treated like idiots?
People say our Constitution is broken and no longer functional in "modern society" but it has less to do with how modern it is, and everything to do with what we have allowe this country to become. Our Constitution was written for a nation who trusted God and followed Biblical principals. Ben Franklin said, "Only a virtuous people are capable of freedom. As nations become corrupt and vicous, they have more need of masters." He also said that freedom is a "right that belongs to us by the laws of God."
John Adams said, "We have no government armed in power capable of contending with human passions unbridled by morality and religion. Our Constitution was made only for a religious and moral people. It is wholly inadequate for the government of any other." That is one of my favorite quotes, but it also scares me. If what he says is true, and I believe it is, then our constitution is, at this point, inadequate. We no longer have a working constitution in this country. If you actually think we can, as a whole, still qualify as a "religious and moral people" then you need to wake up and smell the trash that is collecting all around us.
We are in line to be the next great failed country. Along with Rome, we will fall...and for very similar reasons. Here are a few reasons why, Historians believe, the Roman Empire collapsed:
Antagonism between senate and emporer
Decine in Morals--listed specifically is sexually explicite behavior, homosexuality, drunkenness, etc.
Political Corruption
Constant Wars and Heavy Spending
Failing Economy
Unemployment of the Working Class
Decline in Ethics and Values
Sound familiar? Of course, Rome, in its glory days, also killed thousands of Christians. I can't help but think that might have had something to do with it as well. But we can't ingnore the direction this country has turned. We can't sit around and pretend that there is not a problem.
Today we celebrate our Independence Day. America was founded to be a nation under God. Our Constitution of the United States of America was written to govern a God fearing people. How many July 4th holidays do you think we have left?
